


- Jan. 2010, Chia-Li Chien has been appointed as 2010 Pro Bono Advisory Committee member of
Financial Planning Association (FPA) on National level. FPA Pro Bono is to help individuals and
families in need to achieve financial stability through community and pro bono outreach activities. We
accomplish this through the education, training and mobilization of the financial planning community
- Jan. 2010, Chien Associates LLC launched Silk Road Institute Business Retreats, a program help to
building a sustainable local business ecosystem. This quarterly 3-hour event is a combination of
client appreciation + Mastermind Group + structured networking. It is sponsored by Chien Associates
LLC and its clients, in order to help clients grow their businesses. Feb. 18, 2010 was the first event.
- Dec. 2009, Chia-Li Chien presented at the "Teen Money Matters" education workshops at A Mile In My
Shoes, Inc. in Huntersville, NC, a non-profit organization helping families in needs.
- Nov, 2009, Chia-Li Chien presented "Estate Planning" at the Greater Vision Church in Huntersville,
NC.
- Nov. 5, 2009, Chia-Li Chien has been appointed as a board member of the Women's Advisory Board
by Mecklenburg County Board of County Commissioners' office. She will serve a three-year term.
- Oct. 2009, Chia-Li Chien conducted a workshop "Investing in the future" at the Greater Vision Church
in Huntersville, NC.
- Oct. 2009, Chia-Li Chien conducted a workshop "Retirement in the Black"at the Greater Vision Church
in Huntersville, NC.
- Sept. 2009, Chia-Li Chien conducted a workshop “Effective Budgeting in Tough Times” at the Greater
Vision Church in Huntersville, NC.
- Aug. 2009, Chia-Li Chien is featured in Financial Planning Association's "Chapter Spotlight" for her
leadership of Pro Bono efforts in FPA of Charlotte.
- July 2009, Chia-Li Chien is selected as one of the panelists of the Charlotte Literacy Festival to be
held on Sept. 5, 2009.
- July 2009, Chia-Li Chien is the newest columnist for womenentrepreneur.com. The first column
released on Aug. 6 2009
- Feb. 2009, Chia-Li Chien is one of the selected as a mentors in NAWBO (National Association of
Women Business Owners) Extreme Mentoring program. This program is a 12-month mentoring
program helping women business owners in Charlotte. The three mentees were selected by City of
Charlotte Small Business Development.
- Feb. 2009, Chia-Li Chien obtained the MOU on behalf of FPA Charlotte to provide pro bono services to
Charlotte Housing Authority. The event held on April 24, 2009 & May 12, 2009.
- Oct 2008, Chia-Li Chien appointed as board member - Pro Bono Director for Financial Planning
Association in Charlotte.
